The Busy Moving Season Comes to a Close
September is here, which means that the end of the summer moving season is coming to a close. The peak season for moving companies always occurs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Families prefer to move during the summer because kids are out of school, and home sales are always higher during the warm weather months. Now that September is here, movers everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief after the summer moving marathon has come to an end.
The end of the summer is a great time to take a look back at what we accomplished. United Van Lines, which Corrigan is a proud agent for, recently released some moving data from the summer. The last week of June, historically the busiest week of the year, United Van Lines moved 61 million pounds of household goods in the United States. For the month of July, United moved 198 million pounds! Altogether, from May – August, United moved 657 million pounds of household goods. That’s a lot of furniture!
Corrigan alone touched 7,740 household moves in the same period of time (May – August). Our branches and drivers handled 53.1 million pounds of household goods this summer! We are truly grateful to our customers who entrusted us with their relocations over these past few months. We also send a heartfelt thank you to our drivers and crew members. They spend long days in staggering heat to ensure our customers have a successful move. Cheers to the fall!
