Rochester Food Drive Collects Over 1,000 Pounds of Donations
Here at Corrigan, we are committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which we reside. While there are always an assortment of initiatives our employees are involved in throughout the year, one in particular was so exciting it was difficult not to mention.
Looking to help feed hungry families in the Rochester, New York, area, Corrigan Moving Systems, Move for Hunger, and Your Best Move LLC all teamed up to organize a food drive in the community. The food drive took place at a dozen Senior Living Communities in the area. Residents and staff members at these communities all pitched in and collected over 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food. That’s enough food to provide 893 meals to hungry families in the area!
Corrigan Moving Systems was the transportation provider for the event. We dropped off the Move for Hunger donation boxes at each Senior Living Community at the start of May. The communities all pitched in and collected food items from May 13th – 31st. During the first week of June, we came back out to each center to collect the donated food items and transport it on over to Foodlink, the Feeding America regional food bank. For more information about Foodlink and all of their great work, visit their website, Facebook or Twitter account.
Special thanks go out to our own Marabeth Galardi and to Margot Long of Your Best Move LLC for organizing the event, as well as to all of the individuals at each of the Senior Living Communities in the area who donated to our Rochester food drive. It was very exciting for us to see the entire community come together to make this event a huge success and to help fight hunger in our community.
